System Size Guide

Find the right system size for your business

System Size Ideal For Typical EPC Cost Annual Energy Generated Year 1 Electricity Saving
100–300 kWp Small factories, retail stores, office buildings, schools R590K–R1.8M 175,000–525,000 kWh R170K–R510K per year
300–750 kWp Medium manufacturers, warehouses, shopping centres R1.8M–R4.4M 525,000–1,312,500 kWh R510K–R1.27M per year
750 kWp–2 MWp Large industrial, government facilities, cold storage, mining R4.4M–R12M 1.3M–3.5M kWh R1.27M–R3.4M per year

Savings calculated at Eskom Large Power User TOU tariff R0.97/kWh average, 22% capacity factor, Gauteng solar resource. Actual savings vary by site.

The 7-Step EPC Process

From assessment to commissioning — a proven methodology

1 Free On-Site Energy Assessment: Our engineers visit your premises, review 12 months of electricity bills, assess roof or ground-mount feasibility, check structural capacity, and map your load profile. No cost. No obligation. Delivered within 5 business days.
2 System Design & Engineering: ECSA-registered Professional Engineers produce a full system design: string sizing, inverter selection, mounting system specification, single-line diagram, NERSA SSEG application documentation, and grid protection design.
3 Fixed-Price Proposal: We deliver a bankable EPC proposal including: equipment specification with datasheet references, installation programme, payment milestones, 20-year energy production model, payback period analysis, and Section 12B tax benefit calculation.
4 Procurement at Gold Partner Pricing: Once the contract is signed, we procure all equipment directly from our Tier 1 OEM partners — Huawei, JA Solar (ARTsolar-manufactured modules for REIPPPP compliance), JinkoSolar, and Sungrow — at Gold Partner pricing passed to the client.
5 Installation: Our teams of SANS 10142 qualified electricians install the full system to NRS 097 standard. Project management by a dedicated Panyanru Solar site supervisor. Daily progress reports. Zero variation from the approved design without client sign-off.
6 Commissioning & NERSA Registration: We complete the NERSA SSEG registration and municipality grid-connection process on your behalf. System is commissioned with inverter monitoring active, performance verified, and as-built documentation delivered.
7 Ongoing O&M (Optional): Continue with Panyanru Solar's managed O&M service — remote FusionSolar monitoring, preventive maintenance visits, rapid fault response, and monthly performance reporting. Protects your system's generation output and your warranty.

The Section 12B Tax Benefit Explained

Under Section 12B of the South African Income Tax Act, businesses that install qualifying solar PV assets are entitled to a significant tax deduction in the first year of installation.

Example: R5 million solar system
Corporate tax rate: 27%
Tax saving: ~R1.35 million
Net effective investment: R3.65 million
Payback period: 3–5 years
With Section 12B: Sub-4 years

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about commercial solar EPC

Typically 8–16 weeks from contract signing to grid commissioning, depending on system size and municipality connection queue. Smaller systems (under 500kWp) are typically commissioned within 8–10 weeks. We provide a detailed programme at proposal stage.

Grid-tied solar systems without batteries will switch off during load-shedding for safety reasons (anti-islanding protection required by NERSA). Adding a BESS (battery storage system) enables your premises to continue operating on solar+battery power during Eskom load-shedding. Panyanru Solar can design a system that covers your critical loads for 4–12 hours of load-shedding.

No. Panyanru Solar installs both rooftop and ground-mount systems. Rooftop is preferred for most C&I applications (no land cost, lower structural foundation cost). Ground-mount systems are used where roof conditions are unsuitable (asbestos, inadequate load-bearing capacity, orientation issues) or where additional land is available at the property.

Panyanru Solar holds CIDB Grade 5 (Engineering/Electrical), qualifying us for projects up to R20 million. We are currently upgrading to Grade 7 for larger-scale projects. For projects requiring a higher grade, Panyanru Solar can participate as a B-BBEE EPC subcontractor in a joint venture with a Grade 7 principal.

All new solar installations should be endorsed on your existing buildings or all-risk insurance policy. Panyanru Solar provides the technical documentation (as-built drawings, equipment specifications, replacement value certificate) required for insurance endorsement. We also hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance for the duration of the installation.

Yes. Panyanru Solar's B-BBEE Level 1 status, CIDB Grade 5 registration, and ARTsolar module supply agreement (the only REIPPPP-compliant module source in Sub-Saharan Africa) positions us for REIPPPP Bid Window 7/8, RMIPPPP, and municipal solar procurement.
